Making clarified butter at home:
Ingredients: Fresh, homemade or good quality butter.
Preparation:
1. Place the butter in a thick-bottomed saucepan and melt it over low heat.
2. Let it come to a boil, then observe as the water evaporates and the butter heats up.
The butter turns golden yellow, and foam appears on top.
3. Once the foam settles, and a golden-brown sediment forms at the bottom, the ghee is ready.
4. Strain it through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove the sediment.
Place it in a jar, and store it in a cool, dry place.
Ghee is a delicious and nutritious fat, which can be beneficial in an Ayurvedic diet!
