This guide helps Pitta-type individuals (both physically and mentally) to maintain or restore their dosha balance.
The Pitta dosha influences digestion and metabolism, body temperature, and biological transformative processes. Salty, spicy, and sour foods are fire-type foods, so Pitta/fire-type individuals should consume them with careful attention and moderation, as excessive consumption can lead to Pitta imbalance.
Primarily, it is advisable to consume cold or warm foods, but never scorching hot, prioritizing bitter and sweet flavors.
It is recommended to use a small amount of butter or oil for preparing meals. Since Pitta has a strong and effective influence on digestion, Pitta-type individuals do not gain weight, no matter how much they eat (with the exception of Pitta-Kapha types).
Most Pitta-type individuals tend to consume too much salt, as well as sour and spicy foods, which is unfavorable for them. Pitta types should avoid pickles, yogurt, sour cream, and cheese. Additionally, avoid using vinegar; instead, flavor your salads with lemon. Alcoholic and fermented beverages and coffee should be avoided, as their tart taste increases Pitta. However, herbal teas (mint, licorice) are excellent. A vegetarian diet rich in milk, grains, and vegetables is beneficial for Pitta types.
Avoid oily, hot, salty, heavy, deep-fried foods; instead, eat starchy vegetables, grains, and beans.
Avoid stress-induced overeating! Fast food is definitely not good; however, Japanese and Chinese cuisine has a beneficial effect. Mexican foods increase the fire element, which is also not favorable for Pitta types, as excessive fire can potentially lead to digestive disorders. To alleviate aggravated Pitta, it is recommended to mix 2 teaspoons of ghee in a glass of warm milk and drink it (ghee is not recommended for high cholesterol levels).
In summary: avoid egg yolks, nuts, strong spices, salt, and hot beverages. Add sweet and bitter flavors to your meals and reduce sourness.
Pitta-type individuals tend to experience sudden, passionate extremes. Stress is a serious challenge for them, so to alleviate it, choose leisure activities that relieve tension. The tranquility of nature can have a “cooling” effect on them; a good conversation or creative activity can ease their tension.
